Responsible Purchasing Charter of Miles Import

At Miles Import, we recognize the importance of responsible purchasing in our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. This Responsible Purchasing Charter defines the guiding principles that we expect from our suppliers to ensure ethical, sustainable, and socially responsible sourcing practices. Our principles are based on the following laws and international texts:

  1. Respect for Human Rights • Suppliers must respect human rights and fundamental freedoms as defined by the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. • Suppliers must avoid any form of forced labor, child labor, human trafficking, and discrimination, in compliance with the fundamental conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO). • Working conditions must be safe, healthy, and respectful of human dignity, in alignment with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

  2. Legal and Regulatory Compliance • Suppliers must comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations in the countries where they operate. • In the event of a discrepancy between local legal requirements and this Charter, the strictest standards must be applied. • Comply with the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (2011).

  3. Ethical Practices • Suppliers must adopt high standards of integrity and ethical conduct in all their operations. • Any form of corruption, fraud, bribery, or conflict of interest must be avoided, in accordance with the United Nations Convention against Corruption. • Suppliers must ensure the protection of confidential information and personal data, in compliance with the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.

  4. Environment • Suppliers must adopt responsible environmental management practices by minimizing their impact on the environment, in line with the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development. • They must monitor and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, energy and water consumption, and waste production, in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). • Suppliers must promote the use of recyclable and biodegradable materials and avoid deforestation by ensuring the traceability of their raw materials, in accordance with the Convention on Biological Diversity.

  5. Working Conditions and Social Relations • Suppliers must offer safe and fair working conditions, respecting legal working hours and paying decent wages, in accordance with ILO standards. • They must guarantee freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, in respect of the ILO Convention on Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organize. • Any form of harassment, violence, or discrimination must be prohibited, in alignment with the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women (Istanbul Convention).

  6. Responsible Sourcing • Suppliers must ensure that the raw materials used have no negative social or environmental impacts and do not finance human rights violations. • They must ensure the traceability of their products back to their source and promote sustainable sourcing practices, in line with ISO 20400:2017 standards on sustainable procurement.

  7. Innovation and Continuous Improvement • Suppliers must encourage innovation to continuously improve the social and environmental performance of their products and processes. • They must collaborate with Miles Import to develop innovative and sustainable solutions.

  8. Transparency and Communication • Suppliers must be transparent in their business practices and provide Miles Import with the necessary information to assess their compliance with this Charter. • They must communicate openly and honestly with all stakeholders.

Supplier Commitment By signing this Responsible Purchasing Charter, Miles Import’s suppliers commit to respecting and promoting these principles in all their operations. Miles Import reserves the right to conduct audits and checks to ensure supplier compliance with this Charter. In case of non-compliance, Miles Import reserves the right to take corrective action, including the suspension or termination of the business relationship.
